UPDATE to ASU Dual and Journeymen Collegiate Classic

 

UPDATE ON ASU AND BINGHAMTON DUALS

The dual with Binghamton will get the day started for the ILLINI on Saturday. The broadcast is set for 11 am Central. Then, at 3 pm Central, the ILLINI face off against ASU. As for lineup notes, there are no Larkins making the trip to Pennsylvania. Cael Valencia is making the trip, but he is not scheduled to wrestle in the dual. The ILLINI have only Caelan Riley listed for the Journeymen Collegiate Classic, no Ramazan Attasauov. Who'll wrestle in the Binghamton/ASU duals? We don't know.

 

UPDATE ON JOURNEYMEN COLLEGIATE CLASSIC

Earlier today, Journeymen Wrestling and the coaches released the pools. We will not see all of the heavy hitters in a single bracket. You can see it here. For the ILLINI perspective, read on:

As noted above, Ramazan is not listed in the brackets for the tournament on Sunday. Caelan Riley is listed in Pool D. At 133, Lucas Byrd is the #1 seed in Pool A. There will be no Crookham. The #2 seed is Alex Almeyda of Penn, #4 is Ryan Miller of Penn. Brett Ungar of Cornell and Julian Chlebove of ASU are both in Pool B. 

At 141, Danny Pucino is the #5 seed in Pool A. This is a very tough pool with Kai Orine of NC State, Emilio Ysaguirre of ASU and CJ Composto of Penn. Will Baysingar is in an equally tough Pool B with Ryan Jack of NC State and Luke Stanich of Lehigh. 

Kannon Webster is the #1 seed in Pool A at 149. Jesse Vasquez of ASU is the #2. Jason Kraisser is in a super-tough Pool A with #1 in the country Meyer Shapiro of Cornell, Ed Scott of NC State, Jackson Arrington and Jude Swisher. 

Braeden Scoles is the #3 seed, while Caden Ernd is #5 at 165 in Pool A. Nicco Ruiz of ASU is the #1 seed, and the pool also sports Derek Fields and Max Brignola. Little Brawny is somehow the #4 seed in Pool A at 174 with Nick Incontrera of Penn, Simon Ruiz of Cornell and Luca Augustine from Pitt. 

Pool A at 184 is full of talent as well with both ILLINI Edmond Ruth and Dylan Connell there, along with Dylan Fishback of NC State, Reece Heller of Pitt and Brian Soldano of Rutgers. Big Brawny is the #2 seed at 197 in Pool A. The #1 seed is Michael Beard of Lehigh, who the Brawlnagel beat by one point in the NCAA Tournament two years ago. Mac Stout is also in this top heavy bracket. 

Isiah Pettigrew is in Pool B for 197 at an undervalued #4 seed. Finally, at 285, Luke Luffman is in Pool B, away from Cohlton Schultz and Isaac Trumble. The main competition in this pool will be from Owen Trephan of NC State.
