MOLOGOUSIS AND WROBLEWSKI ON SAME MMA CARD!

This'll be an MMA debut for Wroblewski, while Mologousis has already been wrecking guys and winning belts. He's 4-0 in his MMA career and has his own Tapology and Sherdog pages.

You can follow him on Instagram where you'll see how he went viral with a :32 TKO in his second-to-last fight. Here's a short interview we had with Goose and Matt last night:

JOHNNY "GOOSE" MOLOGOUSIS

The Goose will take on Allen Holloway, a 5-0 prospect out of Michigan. Who wants to bet that Holloway walks out prancing to some Eminem?

It appears that Holloway has experience as a boxer in Golden Gloves tournaments, but his only experience wrestling was his Senior year in high school.

Ground and pound?

Some video of him fighting herehere and here. He's lengthy and lanky with long legs that he will throw, and he has a man-pony. It seems like 90 to 95% of his kicks are high kicks from his left, lead leg. At least 70% of his punches came from the left lead, and he rarely led with the right.

He's susceptible to counter-punches.

Not many combinations; you have to think he's been working on that. You can actually see him load up with the right. Only adequate wrestling for the competition he's faced, which has been stinky garbage wrestling.

MATT "THE POLISH PRINCE" WROBLEWSKI

UPDATE: The information below the first two paragraphs is out of date. Yesterday, the fight promoters scratched Granger, and Matt will be fighting a Steven Baker.

There are 212,876 Bakers in the United States who are employed. There are 3,800 LinkedIn profiles for Steve or Steven Baker. Anybody know this guy? The profile below is out of date. WroboCop was going to ******* destroy Garrick Granger. Smart move for him to bail.

Matt Wroblewski is fighting Garrick Granger. Looks like Granger is 1-2 in his MMA career, but he's a hoss. WroboCop will want to use his wingspan to advantage, although Granger is reportedly 6-3. He does seem to have shorter arms.

And remember: In wrestling, you have the head/hands defense. In MMA, it is the hands defense. Keep them up! We know how Granger got his win. We found this on his Insta page:

Left to right: Jello Pudding Pop, Garrick Granger, referee

We couldn't find any wrestling background for Granger. He's fighting out of Monster Lab in Milwaukee, so he'll have a kind of home crowd advantage.

FAVORITE GOOSE AND WROBOCOP MEMES

A NEW HUB OF MMA IN ILLINOIS

It sure seems like ILLINI Wrestling and the IRTC have become a bit of a Mecca for MMA and Jui Jitsu. Loads of fighters and fights are originating from the mats at Huff Hall.

Bryan Medlin had a slew of MMA fights, including five in the pro ranks. Jesse Delgado and Austin O'Connor are both undefeated at 1-0. Mario Gonzalez is a World Grappling Champion. He has his own school called "The Barracks." You should check it out.

Deuce, We and Baan Rachal, as well as Joey Gunther, Eric Barone and Mousa Jodeh are fighting out of Lakeside BJJ in what amounts to more than half an ILLINI Wrestling team starting lineup. Then, there's Brooks "Big Rig" Black, who has already had two MMA fights.

Wrestling will only increase in importance as MMA gains popularity. With BJJ schools and No Gi wrestling for adults becoming a trend, and an excellent get-in-shape workout, that is something for colleges to think about.
