U20 & U23 Team Trials, Logan Swaw, Camps & BTS!

U20 & U23 TEAM TRIALS

To say that we're excited for the team trials this weekend would be an understatement. Nobody at The ILLINI Wrestling Blog and Forum and Beyond has gotten any work done this week. Everybody is calling in sick from June 2 to 4. Can you blame them? 

These are the University of ILLINOIS student-athletes scheduled to compete:

Joey Braunagel is coming off of two appearances in the Greco and Freestyle US Open finals, Danny Braunagel had an excellent showing at the Senior US Open in Greco, Luuuuke as well, Edmond Ruth is in shape and ready to go, Luke Odom had part of his season cancelled last year because of emergency surgery making this a great wellness check, and then there's wily veteran Jake Reicin, a graduate of the University of ILLINOIS and a spokesperson for Fiesta Cafe. 

That may be the main course, but there's also a tantalizing appetizer in store for ILLINI fans. 

Two blue chip recruits and a blue chip commit are registered for the U20 team trials. They include Kannon Webster at 65 kg, Braeden Scoles at 74 kg and Anthony "Joey" Ruzic at 55 kg. All of this streamed on FloWrestling (subscription service). 

LOGAN SWAW

Another ILLINI blue-chipper was busy last night representing Izzy Style in a dual with Sebolt Wrestling Academy. He ended up pinning 2x Iowa State Champ and Oregon State commit McKinley Robbins. The matches were broadcast on Rokfin via the ILLINOIS Matmen account. You can still view them if you are a subscriber. 

This win comes after Logan recently teched a Wisconsin State Champion wrestling for Ben Askren's AWA. Here's a short video of the Sebolt matchup:

ILLINI AND ZANE CAMPS

Why not get better? And not at Call of Duty, but at actual human wrestling! We have some good choices for you to make. In high school, though, we hated Rochelle. Haha! At away matches in high school we would suggest to anybody who would listen to us that Rochelle was a girl's name. All is forgiven now, I hope. I'm sorry. 

The purple singlets were honestly pretty cool. 

And for the ILLINI camps in Champaign, you get to hang with all of the big boys, and don't they usually get you set up in a dorm and all that? Pretty cool.
