THE ILLINI STATE FINALS GRAND MARCH AND COACH POETA

COACH POETA ENTERS THE IWCOA HALL OF FAME

The ILLINI Wrestling coach took to the floor of the State Farm Center to make everything official: He is now in the IWCOA Hall of Fame. This is what the French call a fait accompli. And yet, even bigger things will turn up over the horizon.

A DAY IN HISTORY

It is Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper top the Billboard charts with Shallow. Ariana Grande and Halsey take the Silver and Bronze medals. At the box office, Captain Marvel made over fifty-eight million dollars tonight.

Your stupid little brother still has to wait ten days for Yoshi's Crafted World to come out on Switch. He anxiously starts to gnaw off his hands.

Kannon Webster (Super Soldiers WC) wins the 101-pound IKWF State Championship bracket with a 4-1 decision over Noah Tapia. Gylon Sims finished third. One day, all three will be vying for an IHSA state title at the same time. For a couple of them, it will be multiple state championships.

Chris Moore finishes second at 108 pounds, and in that same bracket but not placing was Saul Trejo, a future two-time IHSA State Champ, who Joey Ruzic beat in the semifinals last night.

GRAND MARCH

ILLINOIS has a traditional Grand March of Champions to begin the State Championship Finals. This year, it will be an ILLINI Grand March of Champions, with Joey Ruzic (commit), Kannon Webster, Will Baysingar, Logan Swaw, Chris Moore and Peter Marinopoulos taking part.

BRACKETS!

1A 120.  JOEY RUZIC

2A  145.  KANNON WEBSTER

3A  132.  WILLIAM BAYSINGAR

3A  195.  PETER MARINOPOULOS

2A  126. WYATT MEDLIN

I figure the ILLINI coaching staff will want to keep an eye on this Freshman. He seems to be doing pretty well. So far, no commitment from him, though.

Good Luck to all of the ILLINOIS recruits, commits and the ILLINI-related!
