Braeden Scoles and Kannon Webster Went Thor and Captain America!

ILLINI Wrestling recruits Braeden Scoles and Kannon Webster went Marvel Cinematic Universe yesterday in Wisconsin and ILLINOIS, respectively. That's exactly what it looked like given the destruction they wrought.

BRAEDEN SCOLES

Scoles won his fourth Wisconsin State Championship in style. As you can see in the bracket below, he earned a #1 seed and first-round bye with his perfect regular season record. He then commenced to tech fall three wrestlers in a row to win the crown.

Each of the wrestlers he teched had at least 51 wins on the season. Moreover, he won his fourth state championship--no Larry Owings or Steve Marianetti in sight--by outscoring his opponents 58-9. This is what Braeden looked like on the podium holding his fourth bracket:

Photo credit to Kewaskum High School. By the way, this is the paradigm for all podium photos: First place, big smiles; second place, no smile; third place, pretty big smile, fourth place, no smile; fifth place, a smile peeking out; sixth place is just happy to be there and make new friends.

In the video below, you can see Braeden earn two takedowns and two sets of back points in the first period. That would equal an 8-1 lead in the championship bout before the second period could start. Of course, there would be a tech fall ending.

Then, no backflips, no somersaults, nothing but taking his ankle bands off, shaking his opponent's hand, getting his hand raised, shaking his opponent's coaches' hands and walking off the mat to a hug from his coach.

Braeden has done this before.

The video also shows a couple snippets of Kannon Webster's last match for powerhouse Washington High School. He led his team to a dual state championship with a tech fall. One snippet shows him pressuring his opponent off the mat in pretty hilarious fashion. The other catches him acknowledging the Washington crowd, as they appreciate his great efforts on their behalf.

You can see him signaling the last of his high school career here:

Finally, I saw this on Twitter, and I would bet that ILLINI commit Brandon Morvari is among the 14 Simley High School wrestlers who are moving on in the Minnesota state series:
