ILLINI versus Chattanooga and Pittsburgh (Plus Recruiting News About Swaw & Marinopoulos)
The ILLINI were on point against Chattanooga. They jumped out to a 15-0 lead before dropping matches at 149 and 157, the only battles lost in the war. Special mention for Maximo Renteria getting his first pinfall in a varsity singlet, and Lucas Byrd widening the gap between him and Brayden Palmer, who is a good wrestler and a live wire.
The big news from this dual was Edmond Ruth beating a very good Rocky Jordan (who is listed as "Rocky Johnson" in the ILLINI box score below), and Dylan Connell beating a really good, ranked opponent in Matt Waddell. An additional look at the bright side before venturing into the dark side:
The announcers did a great job, especially Jake Reicin, who knows his stuff. The production had problems with the camerawork, though, as they hadn't figured out how to seamlessly transition from Camera 1 to Camera 2. Here are the box scores from FightingILLINI.com:

As for the Pittsburgh dual, that **** was pathetic. I won't I won't link to this IWB&F&B post on Twitter or Instagram or put it up on ILLINOISMatmen.com or Intermatforums.com because that was awful. I'm sure the coaches let them know.
I really hope that Maximo and Kevon get it together. They have so much potential.
GOOD NEWS ABOUT RECRUITS
Logan Swaw and Peter Marinopoulos won huge tournaments over the weekend with Swaw taking the 160 crown at the Dan Gable Donnybrook, and Marinopoulos winning the McLaughlin Classic at 195.
These are ultra-massive tournaments with a lot of the top wrestlers and teams in the area. Congratulations, men!
If you had a result this weekend that I missed, I apologize. If we do, send a direct message to me on Instagram or Twitter or send an email at thetortmaster@yahoo.com.
